Matt graduated from nearby James F. Rhodes HS in 2010. He went on to receive certificates from Polaris Career Center in AC/DC theory and Industrial wiring. In 2013, Matt and his wife Jasmin bought their home in Brooklyn. During the summer of 2021 they welcomed their son (Nolan). Most recently in the summer of 2023 they welcomed their daughter (Madeline).
Matt's community work began while still in High School and a part of the schools JROTC program. He was employed by Estabrook Rec Center and was appointed to Frank Jackson's first Youth Advisory Board. Matt served two years on that board (2008-2010) as the Secretary for Minutes.
Since living in Brooklyn, Matt has been an active member during many clean-ups and community events. In 2022 Matt was appointed to Brooklyn's Fair Housing Commission. He was elected and sworn in to his first term on January 1, 2024.
