Rules and Regulations

  • Residents are required to put their rubbish out on collection day. Do not place your rubbish out on the tree lawn prior to 5:00pm the day before your collection day.
  • The following materials must be dropped off at the service garage: oil, gasoline, anti-freeze, car batteries, car tires, rocks, broken concrete or materials left by private contractors.
  • Please call Monday through Thursday for a special pick up on Fridays for the following items: paint cans, appliances, furniture and large volumes of rubbish.  216-635-4232. 
  • The Service Department will not pick up cans that weigh over 50lbs. (Codified Ordinance 951.02 (b). The can will be tagged and the resident can request a special pick up for Friday if they lesson the load.
  • Rubbish containers cannot be greater than 45 gallon capacity and provided with suitable handles on the outside. (Codified Ordinance 951.02 (a). 
  •  Disposal of railroad ties

If you have a special pick-up of trash outside your regular collection day - you MUST contact the Service Dept. prior to Friday to schedule the pick-up.  DO NOT just put the items out and expect them to be collected.  If you have not called and scheduled the pick-up, the items will not be picked up, and you must remove them from your treelawn or be subjected to a violation notice.  This is not a new rule, but will be strictly enforced.  Call early in the week at 216-635-4232 and get on the list. 


Holiday Collection

Look for signs in your neighborhood during the holidays. Residents can also call the city hotline at 216-635-4233 for an updated schedule. Rubbish pick up will be delayed one day for the following observed holidays.
  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Day
  • President’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • July 4th
  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Veteran’s Day
  • Thanksgiving (signs will be posted to notify residents if their collection day will be earlier).

 

 

Leaf Pick Up

Watch for leaf pick up signs in your area during the fall season. Remember to rake your leaves to the tree lawn. Do not rake leaves into the street because they can get trapped in the catch basins and clog the sewers.
