COVID19 Virus Information and Update for the City of Brooklyn
March 12, 2020

The City of Brooklyn Senior Center is closed immediately and the Recreation Center will be closed beginning Friday, March 13 through at least April 3, 2020. This includes all activities scheduled at this time. Patrons with questions may contact those facilities directly by phone and email as staff will be on site.  The city’s main phone number is (216) 351-2133.  For Senior Center questions, the email address is  For Recreation Center questions, the email address is


City Hall will be open by appointment only. The Police and Fire Department will remain at full staff responding to calls, but all community rooms will be closed. Mayor’s Court scheduled for March 24, 2020 will be rescheduled to April and notification will be sent out to those whose cases are scheduled for March 24. The Service Department will continue regular trash pickup, but all special pick-ups and drop-offs are suspended and the building will be open by appointment only until at least April 3, 2020. It is possible that public attendance at public meetings may be limited, provided that such meetings be broadcast live, with a link to the live broadcast of any such meetings available at the City’s website (


These changes are after careful consideration and reviewing updates from the Governor, Board of Health and Centers for Disease Control. The health of our residents and employees remains our upmost priority.


Notification System for Updates – We will utilize the City website ( and the City’s social media accounts to provide continued updates. The city will also utilize our Code Red Alert System, MySeniorCenter alerts, and Sportsman alerts to pass on information as things progress.

Child Care
The court has no facilities to accommodate children. Courtroom activities are not appropriate for children. It is unwise and inappropriate to have your child with you in a courtroom when you are involved in a court proceeding. Any child under the age of 12 who is present in the courthouse must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. If you are involved in a court case, whether as a party or a witness, make arrangements for child care ahead of time.

Bonds may be posted at the Brooklyn Police Department 24 hours a day by CASH ONLY! You must appear in person to post a bond.
