D.A.R.E.

The Brooklyn Police Department administers
Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) using uniformed officers to deliver key prevention messages to students in elementary through high school. Our officers instruct D.A.R.E. in the Brooklyn City Schools, as well as one private school. The instruction begins in the third grade and continues in fifth, seventh and tenth grades.
Brooklyn Police Department currently has two officers assigned to D.A.R.E.: Officer Mark Murphey and Sergeant Cindy Eschweiler. D.A.R.E. is an excellent means for teaching students about the dangers of alcohol and other drugs, and for fostering a positive image of police officers with the students.
